BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that a well-planned conspiracy is underway to destroy the democratic opportunities gained through long agitations and coups and create anarchy in the country. He said, in the interest of protecting democracy, the conspirators will be identified and resisted.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized in memory of former Member of Parliament and Chief Whip Mahbubul Alam Tara and renowned journalist and sportsperson Mahbubul Haque Peyara at the National Press Club on Friday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, BNP is a liberal democratic political party, which works for the rights and welfare of the people. However, a sinister force has emerged in the country that does not believe in democracy and people’s rights. He urged all democratic forces to unite to resist this power.
He alleged that there is a crisis of values in the current politics and there is a systematic attempt to destroy politics. BNP Secretary General also commented that there is an attempt to defame various political leaders on social media.
Mirza Fakhrul also said that a process of democratic transition has started in the country after the popular uprising of 2024. But some quarters are trying to create such a situation before the election, which hinders the development of democracy. He wanted the government to play an effective role in countering such plots.
BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said in the meeting that various conspiracies and propaganda are going on in the country. Especially on social media, indecent language is being used and slander against the leaders of BNP.He urged the leaders and activists to be careful and said that despite various challenges and conspiracies, the people are with the BNP and the present government.
BNP and its affiliated organizations at various levels were present in the discussion meeting.
