Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said that the government wants to ensure the freedom of the media. He said that the media has been seen as an enemy during many governments. But we want to ensure its independence.

He said this at the discussion meeting on World Free Media Day at the Information Building in the capital on Sunday.

Information Minister said that a proposal has been received from the Ministry of Information to form a media commission.
