Bangladesh Students Federation strongly condemned and protested against the closure of the screening of the movie ‘Banlata Express’ organized by Brahmanbaria Film Society.

In a joint statement on Saturday (May 30), the organization’s central president Moshiur Rahman Khan Richard and general secretary Saikat Arif said this.

We note with deep concern the screening of ‘Banlata Express’ organized by Brahmanbaria Film Society, the statement said. But in the face of threats from Qaumi Madrasa student union and Hefajat Islam, the screening of this movie has been stopped.

It is further said that we have not seen any effective action by Brahmanbaria district administration and government in this incident. Moreover, they pressured the promoters in various ways not to show the movie and even canceled the permission of the school that was taken for the show. We strongly condemn and protest this incident.

They said that the local administration and government, where it was their duty to arrange the necessary cooperation and security for the exhibition of the movie, instead of doing it, they are supporting this fascist behavior. Through which the government has practically failed to preserve the democratic rights of the people.

Student Federation leaders demanded that the Brahmanbaria Film Society should be given adequate security to screen their films and at the same time, a proper investigation and trial of the attack on shrine-khanka, cultural and media offices after the July uprising.
