Jashore’s identified top terrorist, accused accused of at least 20 cases including murder and weapons, Kamrul Islam alias Khora Kamrul (47) has been arrested by District Detective (DB) police.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Mirazul Islam gave this information in a press briefing held at Jessore Police Superintendent’s office on Sunday (May 31). The arrested lame Kamrul is the son of Abdul Aziz of Kholadanga area of Jessore suburb.
According to the police in the press briefing, two persons named Khalidur Rahman Titu and Sheikh Moinuddin Ferdous were arrested in an Arms Act case filed at Kotwali police station on April 6. Later, when they were interrogated on remand, the information of Khora Kamrul’s direct involvement with the shipment of recovered illegal weapons was found.After that a special team of DB police launched an operation to arrest him. In continuation of the operation, Khanda Kamrul was arrested after raiding a rented house in Missionpara area of Jessore city on Saturday (May 30) afternoon.
According to the police, Kamrul was one of the main suppliers of illegal weapons and explosives used in various criminal activities in and around Jessore city. Apart from this, he is also involved with the illegal arms trading ring active in Jessore and neighboring districts.According to police records, a total of 20 cases including one murder case, six under the Arms Act, four under the Explosives Act, seven under the Extortion Act, one under the Special Powers Act and one under the Narcotics Act are pending against Kamrul at Kotwali police station.
Different level officers of DB Police along with senior officers of the district police were present in the press briefing. According to the police, the process of sending the arrested accused to jail is underway. At the same time, the operation to arrest other members of his gang is continuing.
