If they want to define the barbed wire border on the Indian border, it is their internal matter, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad. He said, “BGB is always alert to prevent border infiltration and keep the law and order situation normal.”

He said this while talking to reporters after a meeting on improving the living standards of salt farmers presided over by the Prime Minister at the Secretariat on Monday (May 11).

The minister said, ‘The Ministry of Agriculture is currently reviewing the cost of production of salt farmers so that they get the right price for their hard work.

The rationality of import is being verified by assessing the demand of industrial and edible salt in the country.’

He mentioned, after collecting proper information, decisions will be taken as per the directives of the Prime Minister in such a way that the country can be completely self-sufficient in salt production and the farmers are not affected.

The minister clearly mentioned that Bangladesh maintains diplomatic relations with the central government of India on the basis of sovereign equality. Political change in any particular state does not affect Bangladesh’s foreign policy or bilateral relations.

BGB is on round-the-clock vigilance to prevent border infiltration and maintain law and order situation.

Regarding various information spread on social media about the alleged post-election persecution of minorities in West Bengal and its impact, the minister said, in many cases, misinformation is being spread using old and misleading videos. So far, neither the Ministry of Home Affairs nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has any information about the truth or negative impact of such a situation in Bangladesh. He urged people not to be misled by such propaganda.
