Three top leaders of the organization have been accused of embezzling government grants using the platform of the anti-discrimination student movement. Cynthia Jahin Ayesha, the central spokesperson of the organization called for an investigation on the matter.

The accused are the organization’s president Rifat Rashid, organizing secretary Moinul Islam and chief coordinator Hasib Al Islam.

Cynthia Jahin Ayesha made this complaint in a press conference organized in front of Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University on Thursday (date to be noted) afternoon.

In the press conference, he claimed that information on donations received from the government to campaign for a ‘yes’ vote in the referendum had been concealed. He also alleged that a part of that money has been embezzled.

Cynthia Jahin Ayesha said, “The anti-discrimination student movement is not a person or a party, it is a platform of common people. Misuse of state funds using the name of this organization cannot be accepted in any way.”

He further said that a transparent account of the grant money is yet to be released and serious questions have been raised as to whether the money has been properly spent or not.

Calling on the government from the press conference, he said that an audit should be conducted quickly on the use of state grant money and legal action should be taken against those concerned if the allegations are proved.

However, the three accused leaders were not immediately available for comment.

After the incident came to light, fresh excitement has been created in student politics and the issue is being discussed in various quarters.
