Prime Minister Tariq Rahman commented that the students made this country independent again on August 5, 2024.
Addressing the children and teenagers who participated in the sports competition, the Prime Minister said, “This Bangladesh was once subjugated. Our forefathers made this Bangladesh free by fighting with arms. Despite that, there have been various problems in the country.People of our country, especially you remember, on August 5, 2024, the students of this country made the people of this country free again. Again we have found a way forward.’
He made this comment while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of ‘New Bud Sports’ at the Sylhet District Stadium on Saturday (May 2) evening.
Tareek Rahman also said to the children and teenagers, ‘Each of you will be an ambassador of Bangladesh.
You will present Bangladesh to the world through sports. You are the future of Bangladesh. You have to take responsibility for Bangladesh.’
Reminiscing about the idea of new budding sports, the Prime Minister said, ‘Four and a half years ago, Aminul (Minister of State for Sports Aminul Haque) went to London and sat with him in a restaurant for the first time talking about new budding sports.
After that we decide to start new bud sports when we come to power.’
Assuring cooperation from the government, he said, “From the government, we are supporting the small friends with our ability.” Be it education or sports. You who are doctors, engineers, sportsmen, singers, musicians—whatever you want to be, the government will support you. Whoever wants to learn music will learn music, whoever wants to be a musician will be a musician, we will make that arrangement.State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque gave a welcome speech at the event. At the end of the speech, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new Kundi Sports simultaneously online across the country.
