In Barakhalshi village of Ward No. 3 of Bankra Union No. 11 of Jessore’s Jhikargacha Upazila, a fifth-grade schoolgirl and a mentally challenged woman were victims of the lust of a Jamaat worker. The accused has been identified as Isharat Ali, who is known as an active Jamaat activist in the area. There is intense anger and tension in the area due to his immoral activities.
According to local sources, a few days ago Isharat Ali tried to molest a mentally challenged woman in the village alone in the dark of night. When the woman screamed, a passer-by noticed the matter. After the incident, Isharat Ali left the area and went into hiding for fear of public embarrassment.
Meanwhile, another schoolgirl studying in the fifth grade was accused of molesting him. On seeing him in the village on Saturday evening, the victim’s mother got angry and thrashed him publicly.
Since the incident came to light, there has been a storm of protest on social media and in the area. Locals said that the accused Isharat Ali has got away with various misdemeanors by using political influence. On the one hand, the Jamaat is involved in politics under the guise of religion and on the other, the villagers are shocked by such inhumane treatment of women and children.
Common people and conscious society of Barakhalshi village strongly condemned this incident. They sought the intervention of the local administration to immediately arrest the lustful Isharat Ali and bring him under the law. They say, if such “inhumans” are not given proper punishment, women and children in the society will suffer extreme insecurity.
