The identified top terrorist, extortionist and drug dealer Anik Hasan Ani and his accomplice Tanveer Ahmed from Shankarpur area of Jessore city have been arrested by the District Intelligence Branch (DB) Police along with weapons, bullets and knives. They were arrested in a raid in front of a fish enclosure in Shankarpur Bablatla area after Monday evening.
Atak Anik Hassan Ani is the son of Altaf Hossain Altur of Shankarpur area and Tanveer Ahmed is the son of Tariqul Islam of Chanchra Raipara area.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mirazul Islam gave this information at a press conference organized at the office of the Superintendent of Police on Tuesday afternoon.
He said, a team including SI Kamruzzaman, SI Kamal Hossain, SI Babla Das under the leadership of District Intelligence Branch Officer-in-Charge Sujan Kumar Mandal conducted the operation based on secret information. Anik Hasan was arrested during the raid and a foreign pistol, a magazine and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from his waist. Besides, a knife was recovered from Tanveer Ahmed’s pant pocket.
According to the police, Anik Hasan is known as an identified terrorist of Ani Shankarpur area. There are a total of 17 cases against him including murder, weapons, drugs and extortion. Besides, there are arrest warrants against him in seven cases. On the other hand there is a theft case against Tanveer Ahmed.After taking legal measures in this incident, the police said that the two arrested persons will be handed over to the court.
