Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has commented that no extra fare is being charged in public transport on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and people are returning home with relief.
He said this while talking to reporters after visiting Syedabad Bus Terminal in the capital on Tuesday (May 26) morning.
The minister said that there are limitations as the number of vehicles is slightly less than the number of passengers. But the government is trying to control the situation.
He said, “Many passengers have a tendency to board moving vehicles. If any passenger becomes aware and complains, we take immediate action.”
The minister also expressed concern about the installation of animal stalls on the road. He said that due to overcrowding in livestock markets in some areas, the markets are spreading to the road, which is causing disruption to traffic.
Sheikh Rabiul Alam said, “We have to keep both the sale of animals and the Eid journey safe. The government has some restrictions to prevent accidents. So passengers should also be aware.”
He further said, “Some passengers are not thinking about the safety of their lives. Still, people are able to return home more comfortably and at fixed fares now than at any other time.”
