Naila Naeem, a well-known model and actress of the country, has complained of being harassed and physically assaulted in Savar, capital Dhaka. She claimed on social media that she was hit by a man while buying vegetables at a local market and taunted about her clothes.
In a post on her verified Facebook page on Tuesday (June 2), Naila Naeem wrote, “Everyone who knows me personally knows how modestly dressed I am. Note that I am a non-political person.”
Detailing the incident, he said, “My mother and I were standing and buying vegetables from a local market in Savar on the side of the road. A 42-45-year-old man wearing a cap and a beard pushed me with both hands and said, I don’t have a veil on my head. Why am I walking around naked in the market like this?”
The actress claimed that the market bag fell from her hand in the sudden attack and she was injured on her left hand. Immediately after the incident, his mother took him away in panic. Referring to her mother’s frightened reaction, Naila Naeem writes, “Before I could understand the suddenness of the incident, my mother dragged me away in the auto. My mother only said, ‘If you want to return with clothes on your body, don’t make a sound.’ My mother is still shaking with fear.”
Nayla Naeem expressed extreme anger and dissatisfaction after being subjected to such harassment. Questioning the current situation in the country, he wrote in the post, “Is it a free state? Answer me?”
Notably, although a dental surgeon by profession, Naila Naeem later became widely known through her work in the world of modeling and entertainment. He also has a large number of followers on social media. The incident of a well-known actress being assaulted in a public market has led to mixed reactions and heated discussions in the net world.
So far no official statement or complaint filing information has been received from the local thana police regarding this incident.
