Prime Minister Tariq Rahman emphasized on ensuring efficiency, transparency and accountability in administrative activities. He said, preventive and repressive measures should be taken following zero tolerance policy against corruption. Besides, strict supervision of the concerned should be ensured to keep the public service free from harassment, delay and transparent.
On Wednesday (June 10) afternoon, the Prime Minister said these things in response to a question from Comilla-9 Member of Parliament Abul Kalam during the fourth day of the second and first budget session of the Thirteenth Parliament. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Birvikram presided over the session which started at 3 pm.
In the question and answer session, Member of Parliament Abul Kalam wants to know what are the instructions given by the Prime Minister in the public interest in the recently held District Commissioners Conference.
In response, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman said that several important instructions have been given to the Deputy Commissioners and Divisional Commissioners in the opening ceremony of the Deputy Commissioner Conference-2026. Besides ensuring efficiency, transparency and accountability in administrative activities, it has been ordered to take a strict stand against corruption.He said, unnecessary administrative complications should be avoided and quick, practical and public interest decisions should be taken. Integrity, merit and efficiency shall be the sole criteria to be followed in recruitment, transfer and promotion. At the same time, he called for taking necessary reform initiatives to increase the efficiency of the administrative structure and ensure accountability.
The Prime Minister also said that the digital transformation program should be accelerated to make the government service delivery system timely, efficient and transparent. Instructions have also been given to take immediate action in case of violation of law and take effective steps to control the law and order situation.
He said that strict monitoring and accountability environment should be ensured in all concerned departments so that people can get government services quickly without any kind of harassment.
Through this speech of the Prime Minister, the government’s commitment to strengthen good governance, anti-corruption stance and people-oriented service system was reiterated in the Parliament.
